Thanksgiving is all about family, friends, food, football and FUN! Keep it simple, have fun, add a little creativity, and it’s sure to be a success!
Table Top FUN!
First step is to pick your color scheme. Once that is determined everything can tie together with your color scheme for example, tablecover, plates, napkins, cutlery, cups and serveware. To save time, try setting your table the night before. Another time saver is setting up all the pots and pans you will need the day before Thanksgiving. Place cards are a great way to “organize” your guests and helps take the guessing out of where to sit for your guests. Centerpieces help create a festive focal point on your table. They can be as simple as a bouquet of fresh seasonal flowers in a vase or an elaborate centerpiece combining many different pieces. Adding coordinating candles on your table is always a nice touch and can help set the mood for your gathering.
Food Prep and Serving FUN!
Make sure you have everything you need to prepare and serve food. Make it easy on yourself with foil pans that can be tossed after using. Festive acrylic serveware like platters and bowls are great for “kiddie tables”, appetizers, and for transporting food if you are traveling. Don’t forget the serving utensils for bowls and pans! You might also want to think about how food will be served for example, buffet style or simply at the table, sometimes the number of guests coming can help you decide this! Buffet style may be easier with a large group!
Thanksgiving FUN!
Attaching a balloon or two to your mailbox is quick and easy way to let guests know where the fun is. Entertain your guests with Thanksgiving or football trivia, or by playing board games and cards, or dress up in a fun turkey costume to greet your guests as they arrive for a Thanksgiving they are sure to remember!
Football FUN!
For the football fans in attendance, setting up an area for football watching is a must! You can create a fun spot for kids and adults perfect for game viewing and team cheering with balloons, beads, pom-poms, bad call bricks, and penalty flags. Throw in some extras for the kids like a football piñata and head boppers and it’s a touchdown!
Dessert FUN!
You could go the traditional route with crowd pleasing favorites like pumpkin and apple pie! Mixing it up can be fun too like trying a seasonal flavored ice cream with all the fixings such as chocolate sauce, sprinkles, cherries, nuts, whipped cream, plastic bowls and spoons (for easy clean-up) and festive napkins for a make your own sundae party! Having freshly brewed seasonal coffee, herbal teas, and after dinner drinks helps complete the dessert.
