Learn how to make hanging ghosts!

Make Your Own Hanging Ghosts

For some spooktacular fun this Halloween, hang some ghosts from the trees in your yard for an awesome outdoor haunting Halloween decoration. Sure to be a hit and set the spooky scene for trick-or-treaters! Enhance the spooky atmosphere and play a Halloween sounds CD from the window to really frighten passer bys during Halloween season! Children will need help with this project.

Steps:

Secure the button to one end of the fishing line, as you would if you were sewing the button to clothing. Loop the fishing line through the button and tie a knot in the fishing line to keep the button on the fishing line.

Using the knitting needle, poke a hole in the Styrofoam ball from one side, through the center and out the other side.*.

Push the fishing line through the hole in the Styrofoam ball, so that the button holds the fishing line in place, without it slipping through the ball.

Using a pair of scissors, or a needle, make a very small hole in the bottom (closed end) center of the pillowcase.

Pull the fishing line through the hole in the top of the pillowcase, so that the Styrofoam ball forms a head for your ghost.

Cut out small triangles, zig-zags or curves along the bottom edge of the pillow case for a traditional ghost bottom look. (Optional)

Using a black permanent marker, give your ghost a face. (Optional)

Tie the top end of the fishing line around a tree branch so that your ghost hangs at the desired height
