Traced Hand Turkeys
This is a festive activity to do with a class, or with your kids at home. Children will have the chance to be super creative, and let their imaginations take over! Parents will enjoy hanging these fun decorations, and may also save them as mementos. |
Steps: |
To begin: |
Trace hand onto brown construction paper. |
Cut out tracing. |
Flip hand cutout over, so as not to see any pencil lines. |
Round off any edges, particularly around the palm. |
Turkey Body: |
Punch 2 holes in bottom edge of palm - these will be for the turkey's legs. |
Glue feathers to fingers. (vertically, one feather per finger) Leave thumb clean for now! |
Cut 4 small lengths of pipe cleaner, 2 for legs, 2 shorter lengths for feet. |
Twist shorter lengths around 2 longer lengths, making legs and feet. |
Stick one end of each leg through front of holes already made in palm, bend ends to hold in place. |
Glue feathers to palm. These should be horizontal. (perpendicular to finger feathers) |
Sprinkle glitter over hand, it will stick to any areas of glue not completely covered by feathers. Shake off access. |
Turkey Face: |
The turkey face is created at the tip of the thumb |
Glue googly eye. |
Cut small yellow construction paper triangle, glue beneath eye for a beak. |
Cut Pilgrim-hat shape out of black construction paper, glue above eye. |
Cut very small piece of red pipe cleaner, glue beneath beak for a gobbler. |
Curl a small length of curling ribbon, tie around "neck." |
