Steps: |
Using the shapes found here, trace the turkey's neck onto the brown felt. You will need 2 pieces of felt to form the neck. |
Cut out the brown neck pieces* |
Trace the Turkey's beak onto the yellow or orange felt. You will need 2 pieces of felt to form the beak. |
Cut out the 2 beak pieces* |
Trace the wattle (the red neck skin) piece onto the red felt. You will need 2 pieces of felt to form the wattle. |
On one piece of the neck (brown felt) sew on one piece of beak felt and one piece of wattle felt. Repeat with the other brown neck piece.* |
Bring your two turkey necks together with the wattle and beak facing in, so that the plain brown side is facing out on both sides. |
Stitch the outside of your turkey neck, along the edge, from where the narrow part begins, up over the head, around the beak and wattle down to where the narrow part ends on the other side. * |
You will not stitch the two wide flaps, as those will rest along the front of the pineapple. |
Once your two felt pieces are sewn together, turn it inside out, so that the beak and wattle are visible. |
Using fabric glue, glue a google eye onto each side of the turkey's head. Allow to dry. |
Once your glue is dry, use tissue to stuff your turkey's head. |
Tip the pineapple on it's side, so that the bottom is the front of the turkey and the top becomes your turkey's feathers. Using common or sewing pins, pin your turkey neck to the front of the turkey's body. (see photo) |
Voila! You have the perfect Thanksgiving decoration! After Thanksgiving, store your turkey neck and you can use it year after year for a FUN decoration! |
